Layne Kleinart grew up in Florida and has lived in Seattle since 1975. She holds Fine Art degrees in Painting & Printmaking from the University of Hawaii and the University of Washington.
Kleinart’s work has been included in “Visionaries – Significant Northwest Artists, Present and Future” at the Seattle Center (1995), Bellevue Art Museum Annual (Award 1996), Brevard Museum of Art in Florida (Invitational 1997), ABSOLUT Vodka Traveling Collection (1998), a King County Public Art Mural Project for METRO (1999), “Northwest Print Invitational” at Davidson Galleries (2000), “A Printing Dialogue” at Tacoma Art Museum (2001), “Seattle Print Arts” at Portland Art Museum (2002), “Arte Grafico Contemporaneo Seattle” at Instituto de Artes Graficas de Oaxaco Mexico (2003), Seattle Print Arts Invitational” at Seattle Art Museum (2004), “North by Northwest” at Kala Art Institute, Berkeley CA (2005), “Printmaking Invitational” at Shenzhen Art Institute in China and “Paper Politics” at 5+5 Gallery in New York (2006), Walker Point Art Center in Milwaukee WI (2007), “Autobiography” at Seattle Art Museum Gallery and "Seeds of Compassion" at Friesen Gallery (2008).
Community service includes Pratt Fine Art Center Board of Trustees, Seattle Art Museum Contemporary Art Council Board, Seattle Print Arts Board, Richmond Beach Community Council Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and committees for the Henry Gallery and Artist Trust.
